The Graylock Lighthouse Beacon

Today we are visiting the Lighthouse at the highest point in Massachusetts, because on top of Mt. Graylock at 3941' above sea level, stands a beacon that overlooks the Appalachian mountains and it looks interesting.

There are plaques facing north, south, east and west like this one which let you know what you're looking at.

The Rockwell Road to Greylock

Today we are exploring the road to Mt. Graylock which winds it's way up to the highest point in Massachusetts at 3491' obove sea level. Mount Graylock is located in the northwest corner of the state of Massachusetts overlooking the town of Adams.


The Rockwell Road to Graylock was completed in 1907. A lot of folks ask "is Graylock a fee use area"? How much does it cost to drive up Graylock? Well, nothing! It's a wonderful and absolutly FREE drive to the top, however at the top if you want to park and look around there's a $2 parking user fee.


Can you camp on Graylock? The only camping we saw was a 11/2 mile walk from where you park here. We did not camp at Graylock so I don't know what it's like.

RV's are not recommended, there are gnarly hairpin turns on Rockwell Road, throw in steep grades and cliffs'n your better off steering clear.


There were a few pretty little waterfalls along the way.

The Allman Brothers Band CT

The Allman Brothers Band rocked the Meadows Comcast Theatre tonight and we were there to soak up the vibes.

The Allman Brothers sound great with Jimmy & Derek. They have a very "jammy" sound.

And a big huge happy 40th anniversary to The Allman Brothers Band who started in 1969.

BTW we are not going to the Chicago shows.

McDonalds Anus Burgers?

If you look closely this McDonalds sign in Hartford, CT reads Try a bacon and cheese anus burger. Gee sounds yummy, NOT!









Obviously it should read angus burger, not anus burger.

BTW we did eat there, and the food was very good. The fries were fresh-up hot and crispy! Thanks for letting us hang out before the concert too.

Liberty Park, NJ

Today after it stopped raining we discovered Liberty State Park in Newport, NJ featuring breathtaking views of The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and New York City from New York Harbor across the Hudson. We shot tons of pictures & I'm trying out a new iPhone application called Smugshot. It's especially for Smugmug and it geo-tags and uploads photos to your gallery, I'll let you know how it works after I get to know it.

This old train was at Liberty Park. There was a photographer shooting a wedding here by the train, it looks like a really good location

The Allman Brothers Band at Jones Beach

Jack and I have been having a great time on The Allman Brothers Band/ WSP tour. Here are some photos from the concert at The Nikon Jones Beach Theatre in NY.






After Widespread jammed it took like 45 minutes to switch over the bands equipment. Here's what it looked like at the break inbetween Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers Band.







There's no doubt that the majority of the crowd came to see the Allman Brothers here at Jones Beach Nikon Theatre.







The Allman Brothers did not disapoint either, with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks at the helm they entertained the Jones Beach audience non-stop for a couple of hours. It was great fun.

Widespread Panic Jones Beach

Widespread Panic on stage at The Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach before the sunset. They opened for The Allman Brothers Band.







Although not sold out, there was a nice crowd at the concert. As you can see Jones Beach is right on the water too.







We had good seats for Widespread Panic we were in section 7R row H seats 3&4
They were slightly to the right of center, but close enough for excellent sound.








I really like their sound system, I think it sounds better than Phish's. Phish needs more speakers 4 sure.
